Rail News: Safety
Next month, the Alaska Railroad Corp. (ARRC) will conduct a Whistle Stop Train Tour to provide safety and emergency-preparedness training to local first responders.
The train — carrying ARRC and state safety officials — will travel from Seward north, stopping at cities along the way so local responders can learn about rail equipment, attend classes in on-board classrooms and conduct drills with railroad safety officers.
Training will focus on passenger-train accident and hazardous material incident emergency response, and railroad response safety.
