CN yesterday recognized 149 companies for safely handling dangerous goods in 2019.
Launched in 1992, CN's Safe Handling Awards honor customers who load freight cars with dangerous goods and meet strict standards for the safe handling and shipment of regulated products. The winners must meet established criteria, according to the total number of shipments of dangerous goods for all facilities, CN officials said in a press release.
"The award shows the effort and commitment from our customers to ensure a safe environment for employees and communities. Safety and health are at the forefront of everybody's mind in the current context and we believe that these companies have demonstrated their commitment to running a safe operation," said James Cairns, CN's senior vice president of rail centric supply chain.
The Safe Handling Award is a part of the Responsible Care® Program, an ongoing performance improvement initiative in which CN is a partner, both in Canada and in the United States.
