Canada's Operation Lifesaver seeks Roger Cyr Award nominees

Operation Lifesaver in Canada is seeking nominations for the Roger Cyr Award, which recognizes an individual whose grade crossing safety efforts helped reduce trespassing incidents in 2012. The nomination deadline is March 31.
The award is named after Roger Cyr, who founded Operation Lifesaver in Canada in 1981. It recognizes presenters, supporters and volunteers for their safety work, and encourages others to implement new initiatives, Operation Lifesaver officials said in a prepared statement. Best practices collected during the award process are shared with Operation Lifesaver, Transport Canada and Railway Association of Canada (RAC) stakeholders and partners.
Operation Lifesaver — a national public rail safety program sponsored by Transport Canada and the RAC — plans to name the winner during Rail Safety Week, which will be held April 29 to May 5.
