Rail News: Safety
Yesterday, Mackenzie Northern Railway (MKNR) marked its 1,000th-straight day without an Federal Railroad Administration-reportable personal injury.
"With all of the issues surrounding our railway, the intensity of our operations, distances and weather conditions, it is an incredible accomplishment when we are able to post an injury-free record to the extent that we have," said MKNR Vice President Shawn Smith in a prepared statement.
Owned by RailAmerica Inc., the 602-mile regional operates through northwestern Alberta and the Northwest Territories, moving forest and petroleum products, grain, feeds, minerals and chemicals. MKNR interchanges with Canadian National Railway Co. in Smith, Alberta, and Canadian Pacific Railway in Edmonton, Alberta.
