Norfolk Southern Railway recently awarded PEC Solutions Inc. a contract to provide an integrated public safety system and software for the railroad's police department.

PEC will supply computer-aided dispatch, information and field reporting systems designed to enable NS police officials to manage emergency responses, record keeping, inspection activities and investigations, and agents to complete reports via laptop computers.

Headquartered in Roanoke, Va., NS' police department assigns agents to more than 50 field offices located throughout the Class I's 22-state system.

PEC provides public safety and criminal justice software, and information technology services.
