Ohio panel OKs crossing upgrade projects for CSX, 3 short lines

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) has approved safety upgrades at 27 grade crossings in Coshocton, Huron, Knox, Licking, Muskingum and Perry counties.
Columbus & Ohio River Railroad (CUOH) will install LED lights at 22 crossings in Coshocton, Knox, Licking and Muskingum counties by Jan. 10, 2025. The total cost of the upgrades is to be determined. The PUCO will pay $7,500 for each crossing, for a total of $165,000. CUOH will cover any costs exceeding $7,500 for each crossing.
CSX will install flashing lights and gates at the TR 107/Plymouth East Road crossing in Ripley Township by Jan. 10, 2025. Federal dollars totaling $242,041 will help fund the upgrades.
Meanwhile, the Ohio Central Railroad (OHCR) will install LED lights at the Stilwell Road and Linden Avenue crossings in Muskingum County by Jan. 10, 2025. The total cost of the upgrades is to be determined. The PUCO will pay $7,500 for each crossing, for a total of $15,000. OHCR will cover any costs exceeding $7,500 for each crossing.
Finally, the Ohio Southern Railroad (OSRR) will install LED lights at the Carrol Street crossing in Perry County and the Main Street crossing in Muskingum County by Jan. 10, 2025. The total cost of the upgrades is to be determined. The PUCO will pay $7,500 for each crossing, for a total of $15,000. OSRR will cover any costs exceeding $7,500 for each crossing.
