Ohio panel OKs two crossing safety projects

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio last week approved safety improvement projects at grade crossings in Franklin and Lucas counties.

Ann Arbor Railroad will install flashing lights and gates and reconstruct surfaces at the Summit Street crossing in Toledo, Lucas County, by May 3, 2024. Federal funding of $578,988 will help cover the costs, commission officials said in a press release.

Also, Camp Chase Railway will install flashing lights and gates at the Sullivant Avenue/County Road 143 crossing in Franklin County by May 3, 2024. Federal funding of $333,015 will be applied to the project.
