Operation Lifesaver Inc. (OLI) last week announced it will offer a free railroad investigation and safety course (RISC) training program for first responders to prepare them for safely investigating train incidents.
The course was developed by the nation’s railroad police and OLI to walk first responders through a rail incident from start to finish, and provide critical on-scene safety information unique to the railroad environment.
“Whether responding to an emergency call, maintaining on-scene safety or investigating a collision, important safety measures must be taken for the safety of first responders as well as the general public and train operators,” said OLI Executive Director Rachel Maleh in a press release.
RISC replaces OLI's grade crossing collision investigation course.
OLI has 75 RISC instructors available to teach the course across the across the United States. The course will be offered in person and virtually.
