Operation Lifesaver Inc. (OLI) has released its 2012 annual report, which highlighted the organization's accomplishments last year, such as its 40th anniversary celebration, which was marked with a leadership summit in Denver in June 2012.
Also during the year, OLI produced safety and education materials for rail commuters, new drivers, school bus drivers and OLI's 50 state programs; worked with the Federal Transit Administration and Federal Railroad Administration on grants to develop safety campaigns; initiated updates to volunteer education organizations; and increased its social media presence, the report states.
"While the last two years have brought changes in Operation Lifesaver's message delivery model, education activities and leadership, our goal remains the same as it was 40 years ago: to reduce incidents, deaths and injuries at highway-rail crossings and on or around rail property," said OLI President and Chief Executive Officer Joyce Rose in a press release.
