Operation Lifesaver Inc. (OLI) announced yesterday that the Posner Foundation of Pittsburgh renewed its grant funding for 2021.
The grant helps fund expanded rail safety education campaigns throughout the United States, OLI officials said in a press release.
The amount of the 2021 grant is $125,000, according to the foundation.
Projects supported through the funding include a competitive grant program that funds public-education activities conducted by Operation Lifesaver state programs, funds needed for state educational materials and for the rollout of OLI's new Railroad Investigation and Safety Course.
"Thanks to the continued support of the Posner Foundation of Pittsburgh, our safety message has been shared with millions of Americans," said OLI Executive Director Rachel Maleh.
Posner Foundation Chairman Henry Posner III said the foundation's continued support reflects its belief in Operation Lifesaver's mission and effectiveness.
"As much as we would like to think that common sense always prevails, in today's environment people need constant reminders that situational awareness is important no matter where you are or what you're doing," Posner said.
