UP snags 27 crossing violators in San Antonio

advertisement

Yesterday, Union Pacific Railroad and San Antonio Police Department law enforcement officers issued 27 grade crossing violation citations to San Antonio motorists as part of UP’s Officer on the Train Program.

UP safety task force officials chose the city because a large number of motorist violations have been reported in the area.

Officer on the Train is part of an Operation Lifesaver program under which police officers ride in locomotive cabs to observe motorist behavior at crossings. If officers witness a traffic violation, they report the incident via radio to a ground unit, which can issue a citation.
