Rail News: Safety
Today, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) officials are hosting an emergency preparedness event — part of a monthly series of meetings with passengers to discuss safety issues.
Representatives from Metro Transit Police, rail services, communications, and the Department of System Safety and Risk Protection expect to address passengers’ questions and safety concerns.
WMATA officials also plan to show passengers how to use safety and security features such as emergency exits, intercoms and fire extinguishers, distribute safety material, and tell riders how they can help make the system safer.
