Laird Pitz, vice president and chief risk officer of Canadian Pacific, will present his perspective on corporate risk at the Secure Rail Conference to be held April 5-6 in Orlando, Fla.

Pitz joined CP in spring 2014 as vice president risk management and security. As vice president and chief risk officer, Laird is responsible for risk management, police services, U.S. and Canada casualty and general claims, environmental risk, field safety and systems, disability management, and forensic audit investigations.

His session at Secure Rail will address whether a new model should be considered to encompass all facets of risk, from environmental to terrorism. Pitz is scheduled to speak April 5.

A Vietnam veteran and former FBI special agent, Pitz has directed strategic and operational risk mitigation, security and crisis management functions for companies operating a range of fields, including defense, logistics and transportation.

Hosted by Progressive Railroading, Secure Rail is the only conference that addresses North American rail security from an organizational perspective on physical and cybersecurity. This year's theme is "Protection, Prevention and Planning for the Future."

The event will be held April 5-6 at the Rosen Plaza Hotel in Orlando. To register, visit SecureRailConference.com.
