The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) last week adopted the American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) safety measures to operate safely during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Under APTA’s Health and Safety Commitments Program, GCRTA committed to:

  • following public health guidelines from official sources;
  • cleaning and disinfecting rail cars frequently and requiring face coverings;
  • keeping passengers informed; and
  • requiring riders and employees to avoid public transit if they have been exposed to COVID-19 or feel ill.

By signing on to the program with more than 100 public transit systems, GCRTA is working to instill confidence in riders that the agency and rail industry is committed to protecting rider health and safety, GCRTA officials said in a press release.
