The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County's (METRO) board has approved issuing body cameras to the agency's police officers as part of their regular uniforms.The board has awarded a $184,125 contract to Watch Guard, which will provide 195 cameras. Both officers and sergeants will wear the new units, METRO officials said in a press release."We expect this program to enhance our police department from an investigative and training perspective as well as strengthen community trust in law enforcement with increased transparency and accountability," said METRO Chair Carrin Patman.The agency maintains a police force of 191 officers that cover a 1,285-square-mile service area.
