CURE names Warner to serve as interim executive director

Ann Warner has been named interim executive director of Consumers United for Rail Equity (CURE), a national coalition of rail shippers.

Warner, who CURE retained last year to review the structure and mission of the 31-year-old coalition, will be responsible for implementing CURE’s new strategic plan and advocating on the coalition's behalf on Capitol Hill. CURE seeks "changes in federal law and policy that would require railroads to compete for our business, which we believe would result in more efficient pricing and more reliable service," according to the coalition's website.

Managing Partner of Ann Warner LLC, Warner has three decades of experience in advocating for transportation and infrastructure projects and programs on behalf of corporate and association clients.

Based on Warner's recommendations, CURE's membership approved a restructuring plan in December that will expand the organization's membership to increase participation by freight-rail shippers in a host of industries, including agriculture, energy and alternative fuels, chemicals and aggregates. CURE is developing new governance to reflect the new structure and will be changing its name to better reflect the diverse membership and mission.
