Charah Solutions Inc. will open a facility at Watco Cos.' Greens Port Industrial Terminal on the Houston Ship Channel in Texas.

The facility will use new technologies for grinding blast furnace slag to create supplementary cementitious materials, according to a Charah press release.

"Watco’s Greens Port Industrial Terminal is an ideal hub for us to serve our concrete product customers throughout Texas and along the Gulf Coast as we continue to identify additional sites and open new facilities featuring these technologies," said Charah President and Chief Executive Officer Scott Sewell.

It's anticipated the new facility will open in the third quarter. Materials generated there will be sold to manufacturers, Charah officials said.

Located on 735 acres on the Houston Ship Channel in Harris County, Greens Port is the largest private multi-tenant industrial park in the Gulf Coast market, according to Watco. The park is served by 31 miles of rail infrastructure with four rail yards capable of storing up to 1,300 cars. Unit train service is available.
