International Cushioning wins grant for rail-served site in Ohio

The Ohio Rail Development Commission (ORDC) earlier this week approved a $100,000 grant to International Cushioning Co. LLC (ICC) for a new packaging product manufacturing and distribution site in Fremont, Ohio.

The site is located at the former Fremont Plastics facility and on a Norfolk Southern Railway spur. It's about a half mile from U.S. Highway 20.

The new facility will receive materials shipped from ICC’s North Carolina plant and manufacture polyethylene foam, the company’s main product.

ICC also will produce foam roll stock, construction materials, corner board and bubble wrap at the new plant. The facility will include a recycling system and operation that uses raw materials and resin to produce other finished products.

ICC will invest $3.6 million at the project site and create 75 new jobs, ORDC officials said in a press release.

ORDC assists Ohio companies and communities to create and retain jobs by preserving rail service to existing shippers and providing rail service to new customers.
