Vertical Cold Storage, a developer and operator of temperature-controlled food and distribution centers, has opened its Kansas City multimodal distribution site in Kansas City, Missouri.

The site is located next to the Canadian Pacific Kansas City intermodal terminal in south Kansas City, and is within 30 miles of BNSF Railway Co., Union Pacific Railroad and Norfolk Southern Railway terminals, according to a Vertical Cold press release.

The 311,000-square-foot facility will serve temperature-controlled food and beverage producers. The facility features 47,000 pallet positions, state-of-the-art blast freezing technology, and multiple rooms convertible from 35 degrees Fahrenheit to minus 20 degrees F.

The building design and construction used innovative materials and systems to reduce energy consumption, Vertical Cold officials said.
