Parrish & Heimbecker Ltd. (P&H) has begun construction for a new grain facility near Yorkton, Saskatchewan, that will be served by CN.
The facility is expected to be completed and receiving grain in June 2022. It will replace a current one that's been in operation since 1980, P&H officials said in a press release.
To complement an existing 6,000-ton fertilizer shed and 7,800-square-foot chemical shed, the new structure will include 25,000 tons of grain storage and a 150-car CN loop track for continuous grain loading and movement to serve customers in the surrounding area.
"This build confirms our commitment to investing in facilities and capabilities that support Canadian producers as they strive to grow and market the best crop and further solidifies our commitment to the growers in the Yorkton area," said John Heimbecker, chief executive officer.
The new site will provide a full suite of crop-input solutions and grain-marketing opportunities, company officials said.
