G3 Canada Ltd. this week announced plans to build a new grain terminal facility at the Port of Trois-Rivieres, Quebec.

The project will replace an existing facility to improve efficiency and safety, and reduce environmental impact, G3 officials said in a press release. CN and Canadian Pacific Kansas City serve the port.

The new 65,000-metric-ton facility is designed to improve truck circulation to streamline operations. With three high-speed receiving lanes, it will significantly reduce wait times and increase grain handling capacity, company officials said.

“This new facility will strengthen our commitment to Quebec producers, and will provide an improved experience for our customers while supporting the growth of the region’s grain industry," said G3 CEO Don Chapman.

In collaboration with the port’s recently announced Terminal 16 and 17 project, G3 also will install three modern ship loaders, each with dust control technology to lessen environmental impact. A redevelopment of port infrastructure will improve the flow of traffic to and from the port, leading to the improved efficiency of the supply chain, G3 officials said.

Demolition of the current G3 silos is slated for next month. During construction, G3 will work with Quebec producers, with contingency plans involving G3 locations in St-Denis and Quebec. The project is slated to be completed before the 2027 growing season.

A financial value of the project was not revealed in the press release.
