Ag Processing Inc. (AGP), a grain and grain products cooperative, has announced plans to build a new soybean processing plant in Nebraska near rail lines operated by BNSF Railway Co., Union Pacific Railroad and Nebraska Central Railroad Co.

The plant, which will be constructed near David City, will have the capacity to process over 50 million bushels of soybeans per year.

"The soybean processing industry is experiencing tremendous growth and we believe a facility in east-central Nebraska is strategically located to serve our cooperative members and their farmer-owners," said AGP Chairman Lowell Wilson in a press release.

As domestic and global demand for soybean meal continues to grow, the facility will also improve the company's ability to market soybean meal to the Pacific Rim through its export terminal in Aberdeen, Washington, said AGP CEO Chris Schaffer.

Company officials anticipate plant operations to begin in 2025. Final construction decisions and the project timeline are contingent on negotiations with state and local officials, they said.
