TNW Corp. last week marked the completion of a new interchange between Texas Gonzales and Northern Railway (TXGN) and Union Pacific Railroad.

The $5 million project was funded by TNW and a matching grant through the federal Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) program, TNW officials said in a press release.

Construction of the new interchange infrastructure features modern technology in its power switches, welded rail, steel ties and drainage enhancements. The improvements will enhance safe operations while expanding capacity.

As rail volumes continue to grow, the new infrastructure will enable TXGN to expedite the handling of unit trains, encourage regional economic development through competitive transportation options and work seamlessly with the latest rail industry standards, TNW officials said.
