Vegalab Inc., an agricultural products company, has acquired the Tuttle Creek Dock property in Merced, California, which is located on a BNSF Railway Co. main line.

The property consists of 27.33 acres and an 18,750-square-foot transit warehouse. Vegalab will use the transit warehouse and introduce shipping services to its existing portfolio. The company purchased the property for $2.5 million, Vegalab officials said in a press release.

The company will leverage the property's strategic location, which is surrounded by large agricultural enterprises that could benefit from its line of biologically derived pesticides, fertilizers, and specialty agricultural products, they said.

"We recognized the Tuttle Creek Dock property as an opportunity to rapidly expand our footprint in the San Joaquin Valley," said Vegalab Chief Executive Officer David Selakovic. "The Cross Dock generates revenue based on the number of railroad cars. We believe we can increase the volume of cars doing business at Tuttle Creek over time."
