Anacostia & Pacific Co. Inc. recently formed Gulf Coast Switching Co. L.L.C. (GCSC), a contract switching firm.

Last month, GCSC began its first switching operations at Robinson Yard in Dayton, Texas, a 3,000-car-capacity Storage In Transit facility that serves Houston-area plastic shippers.

GCSC will provide switching and track maintenance services at the yard, which is adjacent to a Union Pacific Railroad mainline. Anacostia & Pacific appointed Leigh Walters, who has 11 years’ experience in switching operations, as GCSC’s general manager.

Anacostia & Pacific also owns and/or manages Anacostia Rail Holdings Inc., the Chicago, SouthShore & South Bend Railroad, Louisville & Indiana Railroad, New York & Atlantic Railway, Northern Lines Railway and Pacific Harbor Line Inc.
