Watco restructures recruiting team

Watco Co.s L.L.C. has restructured its recruiting team to better attract the best candidates for open positions.

Over the past couple of years, many recruiting team members were based in Watco's Pittsburg, Kan., home office or remotely located from the teams they support. Now, recruiters will be assigned regionally and will work out of offices in their specific region, said Watco Senior Vice President of Human Resources Rachael Peterson in a restructuring announcement.

"This will allow our recruiters to better understand the locations they are recruiting for, the positions, the needs of the hiring managers, and, ultimately, assist in building strong relationships with the teams they support," she said.

The team will focus on identifying key talent, assisting hiring managers with the selecting candidates, and improving on-boarding and hiring processes, said Peterson.

Amy Miori will lead the team as director of recruiting and be based in Pittsburg. She has served as director of payroll since 2001.

In addition, Amanda Smardo will support the South Region WTS, Switching and WTPS teams from Houston; Kylie Collier will support the Central Region WTS and WTPS teams from Pittsburg; Becky Beaudry will support the Wisconsin & Southern Railroad, Great Northwest Railroad and Ann Arbor Railroad from Madison, Wis.; Susan Quanstrom will support the West Region WTS, Switching and WTPS teams from Burley, Idaho; and Tia Edwards will support the East Region WTS and WTPS teams from Birmingham, Ala.
