Cando Rail Services obtained two contracts to provide rail switching services at Domtar pulp and paper mills in Wisconsin.

The new agreements call for rail switching service at mills in Rothschild and Nekoosa, Wisconsin. Cando has had a contract to provide rail switching service at Domtar's mill in Dryden, Ontario, according to a Cando press release.

"Domtar is a highly successful, results driven company with a passion for safety. And that's exactly the kind of company we like to partner with," said Cando Chief Executive Officer Brian Cornick. "These contracts further expand our services in the United States and add to our expertise in the forest products industry."

Cando began operations in Rothschild in early June and will begin at Nekoosa in July. Long-term goals for each operation include implementing and maintaining industry-leading safety protocols and procedures, and using Cando's rail services experience to seek productivity gains, company officials said.

Cando moves 2 million tons of pulp, paper and lumber a year in more than 20,000 rail cars.
