Rail Enterprise Group (REG) will add two newly formed rail logistics operations — the Iowa & Middletown Railway and the Wolf Creek Railroad — to its group of rail logistics providers as of Jan. 1, 2019, the company announced last week.

The Newton, Massachusetts-based REG currently owns the Raritan Central Railway and Pennsylvania & Southern Railway, which provide rail logistics services in the Northeast.

"Over the last decade, we have continually improved and expanded our infrastructure, the quality of the services we offer and the range of commodities that we handle in an effort to provide our customers with the best solution for their logistics challenges," said REG President and Chief Executive Officer Eyal Shapira in a prepared statement.

The new services mark the company's expansion into new regions, he said. The Iowa & Middletown will serve the Commerce Center of southeast Iowa in Middletown, Iowa; the Wolf Creek will serve the Milan Commercial Complex in Milan, Tennessee.

"We will be working with our partners at both locations to develop customer-centric, multimodal transportation and logistics centers that will offer a comprehensive range of services for a wide range of commodities," Shapira said.

Commodities handled by REG include plastics, resins, feed, grains and liquid or bulk food-grade products. REG is capable of handling fertilizers, talc, salt, sand and other aggregates.
