The Short Line Safety Institute (SLSI) is seeking a director of research and organizational development, a newly created position.

The position will be responsible for providing design and development, oversight and analysis of the institute's programs. In addition, the director will be responsible for research and scientific and technical reports based on program output.

"The Short Line Safety Institute has had great success in providing safety culture assessments for short line railroads. Now, we are prepared to take the next step in our evolution and provide a systemic analysis of the impact of the assessments and other programs on railroads, as well as provide new programs to address opportunities identified by safety culture assessments to date,” said SLSI Executive Director Tom Murta in a press release.

The institute is seeking a candidate who has a "passion for safety and expertise in applying systematic approaches to programmatic design and execution," Murta added.

SLSI's deadline for applications is March 18.
