R. J. Corman Railroad Switching Co. LLC yesterday announced it began switching operations for two new customers in the Southeast.

In Catawba, South Carolina, the company now provides switching services to New-Indy Containerboard, which produces pulp, paper and packaging products. And in Little Rock, Arkansas, R. J. Corman now switches rail cars for a roofing granules manufacturer.

For New-Indy Containerboard, the company will supply locomotives and add 12 employees under Director of Operations John Arnwine, R. J. Corman Railroad Switching officials said in a press release.

At the Little Rock location, the company plans to add 10 employees under Director of Operations Ken Dziwulski. R. J. Corman will spot empty covered hoppers for the loading of the manufacturer's finished product and then interchange the cars with Union Pacific Railroad.

The company also will move a 40-car train to and from a rock quarry and maintain about 11 miles of track at the manufacturer's  facility.

"We remain committed to achieving our mission of total customer satisfaction, which is why [we've] seen so much success and growth," said Paul Lauritzen, vice president of transportation for R. J. Corman Railroad Switching's parent R. J. Corman Railroad Group.
