OmniTRAX Inc. is partnering with the Frederick County Economic Development Authority in Virginia to identify and market rail-served sites along the Winchester & Western Railroad.
The initial three sites total 182 acres. Located along the rapidly growing Interstate 81 corridor, the sites are "ideal" for advanced manufacturing, food processing and agribusiness facilities, OmniTRAX officials said yesterday in a press release.
"The Northern Shenandoah Valley is one of the most dynamic areas for industrial development on the East Coast," said Ean Johnson, vice president of industrial development at OmniTRAX.
Frederick County has a strong manufacturing base, including employers such as KraftHeinz, Trex and Rubbermaid, said Patrick Barker, executive director of the county's economic development authority.
"Partnership with OmniTRAX's Rail-Ready Sites program is important as we recruit premier, and soon-to-be premier, companies to join them," Barker said.
OmniTRAX's Rail-Ready Sites program connects rail-served properties with customers interested in maximizing supply-chain efficiencies. The short-line management company acquired the Winchester & Western last year.
