Louisville & Indiana Railroad designated 'military friendly' employer

The Louisville & Indiana Railroad Co. (LIRC) announced last week it has received the 2021 Military Friendly® Employer designation from G.I. Jobs Magazine.

Employers earning the designation were evaluated using public data sources and responses to the Military Friendly Companies survey. Final ratings are determined by combining employers' survey scores with assessments of their ability to meet thresholds for applicant, new hire retention, employee turnover and promotion and advancement of veterans and military employees.

LIRC President John Goldman said the railroad was "humbled" to receive the designation.

"For several years, LIRC has made a concerted effort to hire employees with military experience and have veterans in roles, from hourly employees to the senior level," Goldman said in a press release. "Commitment, discipline, solid work ethic and integrity are just some of the characteristics that veterans bring to LIRC."

LIRC and other employers with the designation will be showcased in the December issue of G.I. Jobs Magazine.
