The North Carolina Railroad Co. (NCRR) will invest $300,000 to assist with the construction of a new rail spur related to a new manufacturing facility that will be built in Sanford.
Atlantic and Western Railway will use the new rail spur to serve Service Offsite Solutions, which recently announced it will build a new plant in Lee County. The new rail modifications will increase activity by 150 additional rail cars each year, NCRR officials said in a press release.
NCRR is one of several partners included in Raleigh-based Service Offsite Solutions' announcement about the $18 million facility, where modular floors, walls and roofs for off-site home construction will be manufactured. The plant is expected to employ 235 people.
"Partnerships like these are critical in the creation of new jobs and retention of existing employment. This is another huge win for the state, local communities and the people of North Carolina," said NCRR President and CEO Carl Warren.
