RSI Logistics Inc. has partnered with Madison Railroad to operate the short line's newly acquired 22-acre transload site in Madison, Indiana.
The partnership will improve supply-chain efficiency and decrease volatility for local suppliers and shippers, RSI Logistics officials said in a press release. It will also expand the railroad's transloading services.
"This is an area that is seeing a consistent demand and we look forward to adding value to Madison Railroad’s growth," said RSI Logistics Vice President Kelley Minnehan. "RSI’s diverse business acumen and industry leading rail management will be a significant value to the Madison Railroad and growing this partnership will capitalize on many opportunities."
The Madison region has been historically underserved by rail, said Madison Railroad General Manager Adam Robillard.
"This partnership builds upon the Madison Railroad’s recent acquisition of a new 22-acre transload site along with our vision of growth through investment, modernization, and leadership," he said.
Madison Railroad is operated by the City of Madison Port Authority and interchanges with CSX.
