Springfield Terminal Railway Co. recently implemented SSG Innovations L.L.C.’s Express Yard™ rail-car repair billing system. A Pan Am Railways subsidiary, the railroad is using the system at all of its car shops to manage repairs.

A Web-based, wireless handheld-based software system, Express Yard is designed to manage car repair and maintenance facilities’ daily operations, including billing.

“We feel … our handheld application will provide further benefit for [the railroad’s] mobile crews in the future,” said Express Yard’s Justin Gillam in a prepared statement.

Formerly Guilford Rail System, Pan Am Railways also owns and operates the Boston and Maine and Maine Central railroads, and Portland Terminal Co.
