The Adrian & Blissfield Rail Road Co. recently acquired a 2006 Ford F-150 “flexible fuel” pickup truck, the first of several alternative-fuel vehicles the short line plans to obtain. The short line is trying to promote environmentally friendly fuel options because the railroad will serve an ethanol plant that’s under construction in Blissfield, Mich.

“We want to set an example of how companies can lead the movement to make the U.S. less dependent on oil,” said Adrian & Blissfield President Mark Dobronski in a prepared statement.

The Adrian & Blissfield parent company operates short lines Adrian & Blissfield and Charlotte Southern railroads, which provide freight and dinner train services; and short lines Detroit Connecting Railroad Co. and Lapeer Industrial Railroad Co.
