Yesterday, The Broe Group announced its Windsor Renewal I affiliate acquired 320 acres from Eastman Kodak Co. in the Great Western Industrial Park in Windsor, Colo.

As part of the deal, the industrial park acquired more than 500,000 square feet of industrial buildings and nearly two miles of rail infrastructure, which will be further extended to create a loop within the park to add capacity for growing rail service demand, Broe Group officials said in a prepared statement. The park is served by the Great Western Railway of Colorado L.L.C., an 80-mile short line owned by Broe Group’s OmniTRAX Inc. that interchanges with BNSF Railway Co. and Union Pacific Railroad.

“This is an opportunity to redevelop and re-energize what was once a thriving campus in Windsor by attracting new rail-served industry and creating jobs,” said Clay Drake, Broe Group’s director of business development, adding that the industrial park now encompasses more than 1,800 acres.
 
Kodak will lease back portions of the acquired property and continue operations within the park. Ongoing demolition of certain Kodak facilities will be completed in 2012, Broe Group officials said.

In 2005, Broe Group affiliates began acquiring property from Kodak and other landowners in the Winsdor area to create the industrial park, which has attracted manufacturing and energy companies.
