Buckingham Branch seeks to acquire rail line from CSX

advertisement

The Buckingham Branch Railroad wants to acquire 164 miles of rail line in Virginia that it currently leases from CSX, according to a notice filed with the Surface Transportation Board (STB).

The line is located between Clifton Forge in Allegheny County and Doswell in Hanover County. Buckingham Branch, which has leased and operated the line since 2005, and CSX have agreed to convert the current lease to a permanent, exclusive freight-rail operating easement and terminate the existing agreement.

The notice also states that the amended freight operating agreement contains an interchange commitment with Norfolk Southern Railway.
