Yesterday, the Association of American Railroads (AAR) announced Florida East Coast Railway (FEC) has become the association’s newest railroad member.
FEC joined as a full member, which includes a seat on the AAR’s board and two governing committees: Safety and Operations Management, and Policy and Advocacy Management. AAR members include major freight railroads in the United States, Canada and Mexico, and Amtrak.
FEC operates a 351-mile line along Florida’s east coast from Jacksonville to Miami, and interchanges with CSX Transportation and Norfolk Southern Railway.
“We are excited to join the AAR, which has been the leader in ensuring best practices are shared among railroads and educating policymakers on the importance of the freight-rail industry in America,” said FEC President and Chief Executive Officer James Hertwig in a prepared statement.
