Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis last week announced a $3.2 million grant awarded to Okaloosa County to expand rail lines, roads and utilities infrastructure at mega industrial site Shoal River Ranch.

The site is located 7 miles east of Crestview with access to Interstate-10 and the Florida Gulf & Atlantic Railroad, which gives businesses locating there access to transportation. The site is projected to have an economic impact of more than $47.6 million after the infrastructure upgrades are made, state officials said in a press release.

Funding comes from the Florida Job Growth Grant Fund, an economic development program designed to promote public infrastructure and workforce training. The upgrades are expected to bring more than 11,000 jobs to the area, including doubling the number of manufacturing jobs.
