Continental Rail Corp. last week announced that former U.S. Ambassador Ned Siegel has joined its board. He will advise the company as it seeks to grow by acquiring short lines.
Siegel was sworn in as an ambassador to the Bahamas in October 2007. In January 2009, he returned to the United States and resumed his duties as chairman of The Siegel Group Inc., a real estate development, investment and consulting firm.
Siegel previously was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve as a U.S. representative to the United Nations and was a presidential appointee to the Overseas Private Investment Corp.'s board.
"We look forward to [Siegel's] leadership and guidance as we execute our plan to establish a leading short-line railroad company through strategic acquisitions," said Continental Rail Chief Executive Officer Neil Swartz in a prepared statement.
