Four Rivers Transportation appoints, promotes execs at two short lines

Four Rivers Transportation Inc. recently named Robert Buchanan general manager of the Evansville Western Railway (EVWR), according to the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association. The short line launched operations on Dec. 31, 2005.

Buchanan most recently served the Paducah & Louisville Railway Inc. (PAL) as assistant vice president and chief engineer.

Four Rivers also named Tim Wyatt, who previously managed PAL’s Paducah, Ky., locomotive facility, EVWR trainmaster; Jeff Witherspoon, assistant trainmaster; and Steve Horn, roadmaster.

At PAL, Four Rivers — which owns EVWR, PAL the Appalachian and Ohio Railroad Inc. — appointed Gerald Gupton chief engineer; Lawrence Davis Jr., vice president of marketing to succeed David Goewert, who retired in May; and Jeffrey Campbell, general locomotive foreman.

Also at PAL, the company promoted:
• Thomas Greene to senior VP of operations and finance;_
• Gaylon James to VP of labor and transportation;
• Gerald Gordon to VP of systems and development;
• Michael Phillips to AVP and chief mechanical officer;
• Gregory Phelps to AVP of sales and service;
• D. Edward Pflueger to AVP of communications;
• Bruce Huyck to AVP of information systems; and
• Judy Mohney to senior director-customer service.
