Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (G&W) promoted Michael Miller to president, North America, the short-line holding company announced yesterdayMiller had been chief commercial officer of North America since joining G&W in 2010. The heads of G&W's seven North American operating regions and the CCO role now report to him as president. Succeeding Miller as CCO of North America is Mike Peters, who had been senior vice president of industrial development and real estate since joining G&W in 2012. Peters now leads G&W's corporate commercial, industrial development, real estate, fleet management and commercial support teams. G&W also announced that David Brown will continue as chief operating officer with responsibility for the safety, mechanical, engineering, dispatch, service design and customer service departments in the United States, as well as operating oversight of G&W's international operations in the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia and Canada."With our North American business experiencing strong growth and a promising outlook, we are focused on capturing this value for our stockholders, intensifying our concentration on our customers, and enhancing the operational support of our railroads," said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Jack Hellmann in a press release.Hellmann added: "With Michael Miller's proven leadership, knowledge of our customers and commitment to commercial growth coupled with David Brown's deep operating expertise and commitment to uniform excellence across our footprint of 121 railroads, we believe these organizational changes will further strengthen the trajectory of our business."
