Anacostia Rail Holdings has named John Goldman president of the Louisville & Indiana Railroad (L&I), effective July 11. He will succeed Mike Stolzman, who is joining Colo Railroad Builders L.L.C. in Houston to be closer to his family.

Goldman joined the L&I in late 2012 and most recently was vice president. He has 19 years of railroading experience and previously served CN as superintendent of the Iowa and Valley Zones. He began his railroad career as a switchman in 1995 with Norfolk Southern Railway in Louisville, Ky.

"While we are going to miss Mike and are very grateful for his significant contributions as the senior executive at Pacific Harbor Line, Gulf Coast Switching and the L&I, we are pleased and fortunate to have John ready to take over as president," said Anacostia Rail Holdings Chairman Peter Gilbertson in a press release. "He is very capable and prepared to continue L&I’s progress meeting the transportation needs of our customers today and in the years ahead."

Launched in 1994 and owned by Anacostia Rail Holdings, L&I operates 106 miles of track between Louisville and Indianapolis. The short line interchanges with NS, CSX Transportation, Indiana Rail Road Co. and the Paducah & Louisville Railway Inc.
