Chicago South Shore & South Bend Railroad will receive a $2.38 million grant through the federal Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) program, U.S. Sen. Todd Young (R-Ind.) announced late last week.The grant will be used to help pay for rail infrastructure improvements between Michigan City and La Porte, Indiana, according to a press release issued by Young's office.An affiliate of Anacostia Rail Holdings Co., the railroad serves a "vital economic corridor" for northern Indiana, Young said."Federal investment in this critical corridor will improve rail safety and support continued economic growth in this important Hoosier manufacturing region," he said.
