The North Central Mississippi Regional Railroad Authority announced late last week that it completed its acquisition of the Grenada Railway LLC and signed a 15-year operating agreement with a subsidiary of Iowa Pacific Holdings.

Under the operating agreement, Iowa Pacific will operate the line under the name Grenada Railway and develop new business for it.

The line extends between milepost 403.0 in Southaven, Miss. and milepost 703.8 near Canton, Miss., and the Water Valley branch located between milepost 604.0 at Water Valley Junction and milepost 614.42 at Bruce Junction, according to an authority-issued press release.

The Grenada Branch line serves customers along the North Central Mississippi corridor, providing access to five Class I railroads, and to the Gulf of Mexico via its connections with CN in Memphis, Tenn., and Canton, Miss.
