Last week, New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez announced that three companies would locate new businesses in Santa Teresa, including short-line operator Ironhorse Resources Inc.
Based in O'Fallon, Ill., Ironhorse Resources plans to install 2.5 miles of track adjacent to a Union Pacific Railroad line in Santa Teresa and establish a facility to load and offload containers.
In addition to creating 12 new jobs, Ironhorse Resources' facility "will provide a much-needed service to attract other companies to the area in the logistics and manufacturing sectors," said Martinez in a prepared statement.
In addition to operating six short lines, Ironhorse Resources provides switching, rail-car cleaning, transloading, warehousing and trucking services. The company's short lines are the Carey Fork & Western Railroad; Gardendale Railroad Inc.; Mississippi Tennessee Railroad; Rio Valley Switching Co.; Santa Teresa Southern Railroad L.L.C.; and Southern Switching Co.
