The Lycoming Valley Railroad (LVRR) received the Lycoming Chamber of Commerce Phillips/Plankenhorn Small Business of 2018 Award during the chamber's recent annual meeting in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

Among the chamber’s reasons for recognizing the short line: LVRR is constantly working to bring new jobs to the region and its operations "prove to be ready for new rail business," according to an LVRR press release.

The short line operates 50 miles of track from Montgomery to Avis, serving customers that employ more than 2,000 people. In addition, the railroad uses passenger train service as a charitable fundraiser.

"I am thrilled that our company, in particular our team from Williamsport, is being recognized for the fine efforts they put forth every day," said LVRR President and Chief Executive Officer Jeb Stotter. "Their continued dedication to providing our customers the best service possible with safety in the forefront allows our company to pursue its mission of being safe, customer focused, professional and a responsible civic partner."
