McCloud becomes GM of Watco's Grand Elk Railroad

Watco Transportation Services L.L.C. has named Larry McCloud general manager of the Grand Elk Railroad.

Since 1997, he has served as vice president of operations for Industrial Railway. McCloud has 39 years of rail industry experience, including stints as president of the Tuscola Saginaw Bay Railroad and vice president for RailAmerica Inc. He also served the C&O Railway in such capacities as brakeman, conductor, fireman, engineer, yardmaster and trainmaster.

Launched in 2009, the Grand Elk Railroad was Watco's first railroad to operate in Indiana and Michigan. The short line operates 151 miles of track from Grand Rapids, Mich., to Elkhart, Ind., and interchanges with CN, CSX Transportation, Norfolk Southern Railway, the Marquette Railroad, Mid-Michigan Railroad, Michigan Southern Railroad and Grand Rapids Eastern Railroad.
