North Carolina Railroad Co. (NCRR) is partnering with engineering and environmental consulting firm Terracon to launch the railroad's fifth economic development program.
The program will support the conservation and preservation of wetland ecosystems and increase transparency around regulatory compliance for industrial projects in North Carolina, NCRR officials said in a news release.
The railroad's wetland mitigation program aims to preserve and restore North Carolina’s wetlands while balancing the needs of the state's economy and future industrial development projects. In addition, the program will support compliance with environmental regulations and benefit local communities through cleaner water and improved habitats for wildlife, NCRR officials said.
“Integrating sustainable principles into economic development isn’t just a choice, but a pathway to balanced prosperity,” said NCRR Chief Commercial Officer Trish Haver. “By partnering with Terracon, this program will drive meaningful advancements in wetland preservation and restoration throughout North Carolina, all while supporting economic development across the state.”
